If you ever had a pompous English teacher, chances are you’ve seen one of two movies: ‘Dead Poets Society’ or ‘Mr. Holland’s Opus.’ Since the latter touches on themes of appreciation and gratitude, we decided to give the 1995 film a spin and see how it holds up during 2020’s Thanksgiving season. As we found, it’s not nearly as great as we remembered. Why not? Why doesn’t the movie make a lot of sense? What made the music and sequence so poor? Why did Paul hate it from start to finish?
